Hartwood Acres Park
Originally designed as a country estate for an equestrian family, Hartwood Acres Park channels its opulent past in 629 acres of beauty. The original bridle trails still serve runners, bikers and cross-country skiers today. The park is well-known for its popular outdoor entertainment, including free summer concerts, at the amphitheater.
The newest treasure here is the reimagined Hartwood Acres Sculpture Garden, an outdoor exhibition space for the public art that was placed here in the 1980s. The Parks Foundation is currently working with our partners to create this community space, which will feature 13 works of art, several of which are currently being restored in a new landscaped setting.
The ecological assessment of Hartwood Acres Park painted a vivid picture of the park’s ecology, along with problem areas that would benefit from green infrastructure to manage stormwater, fencing to protect areas from extensive deer over-browsing and a comprehensive trail development and management plan to protect tender native plants.
