Boyce Park
Situated on 1,096 acres just east of Pittsburgh in Monroeville and Plum, Boyce Park is named for William D. Boyce, founder of the Boy Scouts of America. Boyce Park is the only location for downhill skiing and snowboarding in the county and features ski lifts and a ski lodge. The park also features snow tubing, archery, tennis, playing fields, a wave pool and one of two Board, Blade and Bike attractions in the county parks. In addition, Boyce Park has a nature center, a restored Carpenter homestead, and several picnic areas named with Boy Scout themes.

Using the Indian Hill Demonstration Meadow at Boyce Park as a guide, the Allegheny County Parks Foundation has partnered with Penn State Master Gardeners of Allegheny County to develop educational materials for homeowners interested in creating your own meadows. By replacing a part of all of your lawn with native plants, you not only create a dynamic and beautiful landscape, you also provide a habitat, food and a refuge to attract a variety of wildlife.

In 2015 with generous funding from the PNC Foundation, the Allegheny County Parks Foundation, together with the Allegheny County Parks Department, launched a systematic evaluation of natural resources and ecological assets in the parks beginning with Boyce Park. We partnered with the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy (WPC) to conduct the first Ecological Assessment and Action Plan to provide a framework for project implementation to protect, preserve and improve the environmental health of the park.
