Just a few steps from the Hartwood Mansion is the realistic marble sculpture created by Tillie Speyer. A native Pittsburgher, Speyer studied art when she was young, and returned to it later in life when she created this work. Speyer’s art was inspired by elements of the natural world like fossils and sea animals.
