Volunteer Opportunities

Nov. 6 Volunteer Opportunity at Hartwood Acres Park

Thanks to a grant from Patagonia, the Allegheny County Parks Foundation is partnering with Allegheny County Parks to plant 200 native trees and bushes to complete the Little Pine Creek Restoration at Hartwood Acres Park. This riparian (streamside) project will enhance the ecological value and water quality of the site by reducing stormwater runoff, stabilizing the streambank and increasing wildlife habitat.

This volunteer project will be held on Wednesday, November 6th from 9 am to 3 pm.

This project was among the recommendations in the Hartwood Acres Ecological Assessment and Action Plan completed earlier this year.  To learn more about the ecological conditions and recommended actions to improve the parks' ecology, you can access the entire report located here on our website: http://acparksfoundation.org/hartwood-acres-park-ecological-assessment/.  This report was funded by the Benedum Foundation and the Garden Club of Allegheny County.

FOR MORE DETAILS OR TO VOLUNTEER, please contact Barbara Brewton at the Parks Foundation at bbrewton@acparksfoundation.org or 724-327-7627.
