A connector trail from South Park to the nearby the Montour Trail was completed summer 2013. Whether a destination or starting point, South Park is now strategically linked from Corrigan Drive to the 47 mile long Montour Trail which connects to the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal Tow Path, a 335 mile long trail between Point State Park and Washington, D.C. As part of a long–term goal to make the county parks recreational destinations for bikers and pedestrians using the trail, the Foundation partnered with Allegheny County to create a two–mile trail through Sleepy Hollow. The trail is in a natural wooded setting that features a steel bridge over the pristine Sleep Hollow Run. The community has a great opportunity to enjoy this trail and access many recreational facilities and special events within South Park.
